Position in Teen Patti: Why Your Seat Matters More Than You Think_Teen patti sky

Position — where you sit relative to the dealer and the order in which you act — is one of the most underrated strategic factors in Teen Patti. Players who understand position gain a consistent edge over those who ignore it. Here is why your seat at the table matters.

## How Position Works

In Teen Patti, betting starts from the player to the left of the dealer and proceeds clockwise. Players who act early have no information about what the rest of the table will do. Players who act late get to see how everyone else acts before making their decision. This information asymmetry is the core advantage of position.

## Early Position (First Few to Act)

Acting early means you must decide whether to call, raise, or fold before seeing what other players do. This is a disadvantage because you have no read on whether the table will fold, call, or raise behind you. From early position, you should play tighter. Only enter pots with stronger hands, because facing multiple unknown decisions behind you increases the chance someone holds a better hand.

## Late Position (Last Few to Act)

Acting last is a major advantage. You have already seen how every other player at the table has acted. If everyone before you has folded, you can raise with a wider range of hands to steal the pot. If someone before you has raised, you can fold your weak hands and only continue with strong ones. Late position lets you make decisions with far more information.

## Bluffing from Late Position

Late position is where bluffs work best. If everyone folds to you, a single raise often wins the pot immediately. Early-position bluffs are riskier because players behind you can always wake up with a strong hand and call. Build your bluffing strategy around your seat.

## Side Show Position

Side show can only be requested against the player who acted immediately before you. This means your position directly determines who you can compare hands with. If you are about to act, you can request a side show with the player just before you. If you are first to act, you have no one to compare with. Plan your side show requests around this constraint.

## Rotating Dealer

Because the dealer rotates after every hand, your position changes constantly. One hand you may be first to act, the next hand you may be last. This rotation is why Teen Patti is a fair game over time: everyone gets a share of good and bad positions. However, within any single hand, your current position should influence your decisions.

## Adjust Your Hand Selection

A hand you would happily play from late position might be worth folding from early position. For example, a weak pair or a medium high card is fine to play late, since you can see the table's reaction first. From early position, fold that same hand unless you plan a deliberate bluff. This adjustment separates thinking players from those who treat every hand identically.

Position is not a flashy topic, but it consistently contributes to long-term results. Pay attention to where you are sitting every hand, and adjust your hand selection and bluffing accordingly. Over hundreds of rounds, the positional advantage compounds into a meaningful edge.
